This was a fun project. The owner, Ed, owns three Land Cruisers. He has been having me do a lot of work to them. The main object of this project was to put in a Vortec 5.3L engine in it along with a 4L60E transmission. At the same time, it needed to keep the sleeper look. Nothing super fancy here, untill he blows you away at the stop light! This swap was a little difficult to start. I received the vehicle after it had sat at another shop for around a year. They pulled out the old engine and drive train and then let it sit. Follow along as I show how this engine swap turned out. This is what it looked like when I got it. A few pallets of junk parts.

After getting the engine bay cleaned up, I welded on a fish plate that I would end up welding the motor mounts to. After that the front of the frame got a nice coat of paint. The engine was then ready to be placed.
I used an Advanced Adapters cross member for the transfer case mount. It needed to be modified a bit to work. I then added some spider web gussets for strength.

The owner decided to go with drop bump stops instead of added lift. It was pretty close between the A/C compressor and the front diff. These blocks would prevent the diff from hitting the compressor on a hard hit.
Nice nylon braided hose and AN fittings were used for the fuel lines. Turned out very clean. I'll use this stuff from now on. Very much worth it.
I was very pleased with the way the intake turned out. This was several pieces of AN tube modified to work then TIG welded together.

That is an amazing looking job! I am looking in to doing the exact same thing to my cruiser. I was wondering about the transfer case, it needed an adapter to fit up to the 4l60e right? Who's crate motor and tranny?

Yes, it needs a two piece adapter and the t-case needs a new input shaft, if I remember right (I didn't do that part of this swap). The customer supplied the motor and trans. We had the trans rebuit with upgraded parts. The engine was an Ebay special with low miles. All we had to do was clean the injectors and do some custom tuning.
